Top Most Studied Genes In Human Body

There are millions of genes present inside the human body that are inherited from their parents, made up of DNA, and located in chromosomes. Each and every gene has been recognized, examined, and well tested. Their work, role in health, and affects in daily life are also discussed by science. But, you can’t study millions of genes, as it will take too much time. Therefore, we have come out here with the list of top most studied genes, and their brief detail. Without wasting any time, let us start now.

TP53 Gene

The TP53 Gene tops the list with no doubt. This gene provides instructions for making a tumor protein, named as p53. The p53 protein is located in the nucleus of a cell. Diseases like breast cancer, bladder cancer, cholangiocarcinoma, head, and neck squamous cell carcinoma, lung cancer, melanoma, ovarian cancer, Wilms tumor, and other cancers, etc. are related to TP53 Gene. When the mutation of the TP53 gene occurs, the risk of these health conditions increases.

TNF Gene

The next on the list is the TNF Gene. This gene has a deep relation with tumor necrosis factor superfamily. DIF, TNF-Alpha, TNFA, TNFSF2, and TNLG1F are some of its alternative names. While the health conditions whose risk increases by TNF mutation include Narcolepsy, Guillain-Barre Syndrome, Asthma, and Susceptibility to Malaria.

EGFR Gene

Like, TP53 Gene, the EGFR gene is also an instruction provider. It provides instructions for making a receptor protein called the epidermal growth. In this way, this gene influences your height to some extent. The EGFR gene is located in chromosome 7. The most influencing gene and the one that increases the risk factors of lung cancer is the EGFR gene. At least eight mutations in the EGFR have been associated with lung cancer.

IL6 Gene

IL6 refers to interleukin 6. This gene encodes a cytokine that functions in inflammation and the maturation of B cells. Type 1 diabetes is at the highest risk if mutation of the IL6 gene happens inside your body. Other health conditions related to this gene are listed below:

  • Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis
  • Kaposi Sarcoma Susceptibility
  • Rheumatoid Arthritis
  • Inflammatory Bowel Disease 1
  • Diabetes Mellitus Type

Other genes that are frequently studied and they highly influence your daily life are listed below:

  • VEGFA
  • APOE
  • TGFBI
  • MTHFR
  • ESR1
  • AKT1
