Many people have a good habit of starting the day with a walk. This walk often includes jogging and hard running. Trainers and experts usually start their day with a hard running set. Unfortunately, sometimes these trainers and experts start feeling so much pain in the foot heels. Running is a popular exercise that has numerous positive impacts on the human body. However, it sometimes causes heel pain. Usually, it is caused due to improper movement patterns or structural concerns. The condition may look normal by name, but if it is left untreated, it can further cause several misalignments and complications. There still remains a question that what causes heel pain. Several factors might play a key role in this condition. Normally, few influences combine to cause pain and muscular imbalances. The risk of heel pain increases especially when you are heavyweight. Moreover, people with fallen arches or very high arches are more prone to heel pain after running hard. It is because these foot shapes may put excess strain on the plantar fascia. Getting deeper, we find a few more factors that cause heel pain. These factors are listed below:

Generally, there is no need for seeking a doctor or a healthcare advisor. Because the home remedies and home treatment process is enough to heal the pain of heel. However, if the symptoms get out of reach and become unbearable, you must go to the doctor. The doctor will diagnose the correct cause and recommend a treatment plan. This treatment plan can include corticosteroid injections. Because it helps to reduce inflammation and pain. If this does not prove to be enough, the doctor may prescribe you a therapist or a foot & ankle surgeon. He will perform an examination and X-Ray or imaging tests.

Preventing Heel Pain after Running
In many cases, there is no need for any specific treatment. Only prevention proves to be enough to heal the heel pain. On the other hand, if the treatment has been done, it still requires prevention to avoid the heel pain happening again. It will also help to avoid recurring symptoms again. These preventing factors are listed below:
  • Change Footstrike Patterns
  • Opt for Different Running Surfaces
  • Stretch Before and After Running.
  • Maintain a Healthy Weight
  • Invest in a New Pair of Running Shoes


Treating the Heel Pain
Treating heel pain is easy. Several methods are available to treat heel pain. As compared to hospitalization, home treatments are more effective. The following approaches can help reduce pain, stress, and inflammation. 

Take A Break:
If you continue to feel the pain, then it is better to take a break from your daily routine. Take time off from other activities that cause pain. 




  • Reduce Inflammation:
    Another method to treat the Heel Pain is via reducing inflammation with ice or NSAIDs.



  • Use Heel Pads or Orthotic Inserts


  • Try a Removable Walking Cast and Night Splint
