Fascia, the connective tissue that surrounds muscles, can become stiff with prolonged sitting, stress, or repetitive movement. Rolling movements may help this tissue move more freely, contributing to improved comfort.

Areas commonly rolled include the hips, calves, thighs, upper back, shoulders, and legs. For example, rolling the hip flexors can be helpful for people who sit for long periods, while calf rolling may improve lower-leg comfort and circulation. Movements should be slow and controlled, paired with steady breathing. Foam rolling should feel mildly uncomfortable but never painful.

For safety, it is best to avoid rolling directly over joints or the lower spine. Staying hydrated and practicing regularly can help support better results over time.
